Long long ago there was a king in Greece. He had three lovely daughters.
The first daughter was very beautiful, the second daughter was more beautiful
than the first. But the third was the fairest of all. She was the most beautiful
girl in the world. Her name was Psyche. Venus, the great goddess of the Greeks was,
angry with her. She was jealous of her beauty. She called Psyche to her palace and
asked her, “How old are you?” Psyche answered, “Great goddess, I am nineteen.”
Venus laughed and said, “You are young but not beautiful. You are ugly.
Nobody will marry you.” Psyche wept and prayed, “Keep me as your servant, please.
I will serve you well. I will do everything for you.”
